Projects in 2010

In addition to our core operations, our Centre leads and/or supports a variety of other projects each year. In 2010, we are involved in the following projects:

Healthy U Website

Since 2003, our Centre has been contracted by Alberta Health and Wellness to provide quality content, such as topic pages and news articles, for three main areas: Active Living, Health Eating and Healthy Places. The Healthy U website is a valuable resource that has been widely popular, within Alberta and beyond.

Projects in Early Stages

We will provide more detail about the following projects as they advance in 2010.

Community Walking Project: With funding from the Public Health Agency of Canada, our Centre is working with a wide range of individuals, organizations, community agencies and community leagues to promote walking groups in central Edmonton. The aim is to promote walking as a low cost, easy and friendly way for people to be more physically active and improve their health, and be more involved in their communities. Read more.

Physical Activity Resources for Practitioners: This exciting project will help our Centre develop and adapt plain language resources for practitioners working in healthcare settings. The project will also involve translating some of the resources into other languages. This project is funded in part by the Alberta Sport, Recreation, Parks & Wildlife Foundation.
